Who We Are

The SASW Trust was set up in 1999 by churches and Christians in Southport and Formby, who wanted to help their local schools.

Over the last decade, the majority of schools across Southport, Formby and surrounding areas have benefited through assemblies, lessons, presentations and extra-curricular clubs and activities. These have been delivered by our employed schools worker and a team of local church volunteers.

Our aim is to see this work continue, grow and develop through working in partnership with local schools and local churches.

What we do in Primary Schools

We are connected with most of the primary schools in Southport, Formby and the surrounding areas.
We will often go into schools and present an assembly covering a variety of topics such as Bullying, Getting on and falling out, Achieving goals. This is usually done in a fun way using drama.

We also offer 3 presentations to the schools each year: one each term every Christmas looking at the reason for it, at Easter we look at the events surrounding Jesus death and resurrection and we also have a summer presentation that looks at the transition from primary school to high school.

What we do in Secondary Schools

We aim to create a positive Christian influence in the High Schools of the Area. We currently do this through Christian Unions and lunch time clubs and through various events days. We cover assemblies in high schools for various year groups or sometimes whole school on topics such as Love, Faith, Peer pressure and so on.

At times we will be asked to cover lessons (usually RE) and look at a variety of topics from a Christian viewpoints such as “What is Christianity?” “Why is the Bible relevant today?” and so on.

We are currently looking at ways to serve the high schools in the areas better and to maximise the link between schools and the youth work that goes on in the Churches within the area.

How you can help

Southport & Area Schools Worker Trust

This is the most important way in which you can serve the schools of the area.

We want to see the schools in the area as places where God’s presence is evident.

In all of the work we do we seek God and ask him to move mightily in us and through us.
We hope that you join with us in this, please sign up for our prayer letter so that you can be informed about what is going on and the prayer needs there are, We would also love you to join us at our regular prayer meetings each term.

The work that we do is entirely funded by the generous giving of individuals and Churches who believe in and are passionate about the work that we do.

By giving financially you would be investing in something bigger than yourself and investing into the future.
Money goes towards paying the worker, buying resources for the presentations, admin costs and all of the other things that come with the work that we do.

If you have some time that you would like to give to the work, this can be done in a variety of ways such as helping with admin, helping with presentations or assemblies, helping with catering for the team during presentation times, drivers, prop making and thousands more so get in touch and let us know what you would like to volunteer for. If you don’t know what it is that you would like to do then get in touch anyway and we can look at it together.
