Visit to Israel

In July 7 members from Christ Church visited Ruth & Phil Billing in Jerusalem.

The purpose of the trip was to work on the Anglican school in Jerusalem. The building is of significant historical interest to Israelis.

Much work was done knocking down walls and painting to reveal some of the original features of the building, like stonework and beautiful arches.

This is in order to create a Heritage Centre so that local people will be attracted in for tours, therefore building bridges. And whilst sharing something of the history of the building, ultimately sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Within a week of the team leaving, a large group of Israeli police came to visit the school for a tour - confirming the reason for all our hard work was valid! Even whilst we were there, a female Israel soldier was visiting as she was about to set up a unit to take groups of young Israeli soldiers on historical tours of sites in Jerusalem - hopefully the school will be one of them!
